CANCELLED. In-line or at-line process analyzers are indispensable tools within the PAT framework. For process metabolites like glucose and lactate, control strategies typically require off-line analyses which can lead to unreliable process control due to long sample processing times. NIR spectroscopy enables real-time, multiparametric, non-invasive measurements of substrates, metabolites, products, cell parameters and process trajectories. This work shows that a specialized NIR process system enables the qualitative in-line monitoring of nutrients, cell count and viability. The use of the multivariate scores of a principal component analysis of the spectral data enables a sophisticated process monitoring over time and a powerful “fingerprinting” tool for batch comparisons.
