The National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, originally the Northern Regional Research Laboratory, has a long history of demonstrated high impact research. Beginning with the development of the large-scale production of penicillin (and entering in the age of antibiotics) and continuing with super water-absorbent polymers and many other too numerous to describe commercial products, NCAUR research continues to benefit farmers, producers, companies, and consumers. This presentation will include a brief look back on selected research successes, and look forward at a variety of examples of applied biotechnology currently being examined in our laboratory.
