Session 23: Fermentation Considerations for Strain Design
Thursday, July 24, 2014: 8:00 AM-11:30 AM
Regency Ballroom B, Second Floor (St. Louis Hyatt Regency at the Arch)
Conveners:
Chandresh D. Thakker - BioScience Research Collaborative, Rice University, Houston, TX and Katy C. Kao - Texas A&M, College Station, TX
Fermentation considerations such as feedstock selection, dissolved oxygen levels, pH, temperature, etc. greatly affect the performance of strains and are critical to successful development of industrial production processes. This session will focus on recent advances in strain development which recognizes and addresses such fermentation considerations. In addition, design and operation of bioreactors to improve strain performance is also within the scope of this session.
