S23: Integrated approaches to process development -the usp/dsp interface

Classical approaches to bioprocess development have tended to see upstream process development and downstream process development as completely isolated activities.

However, an integrated approach to usp and dsp development has the potential to streamline process development resulting in processes which are highly suited for scale up and manufacture.

Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies has taken a developed platform knowledge based approach to integration of upstream and downstream process development. The power of this approach in speeding process development will be illustrated by examples from recent process development and scale up experience.
