Multidisciplinary efforts in various centers are working to accelerate the basic scientific research needed to provide further breakthroughs in the bioeconomy. This session will feature updates of four major centers for bioenergy research followed by a roundtable discussion with questions from the audience. It will highlight recent accomplishments. Speakers will showcase differences as well as common challenges in organization and research in carrying out larger impactful mission-directed R&D in bioenergy.

Featured centers include the Department of Energy’s Office of Science three major bioenergy research centers along with the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability.
