Rapid isolation of the Trichoderma strains with higher degrading ability of filter paper from unsynchronized conidia after autopolyploidization
When the early appearing colonies and the late appearing colonies were compared in the filter paper degrading ability and the cellulose hydrolyzing activity, the early appearing colonies were superior to the late appearing colonies. Moreover, when both types of colonies were incubated on the agar medium containing crystalline cellulose, the early appearing colonies formed larger colonies.
From these results, it was suspected that higher growth rate of the colony on the agar medium containing crystalline cellulose reflects higher filter paper degrading ability. Thus, we concluded that the Trichoderma strains with higher degrading ability of filter paper can be isolated rapidly even from unsynchronized conidia using the agar medium containing crystalline cellulose.
