Vaginal infections are very common in women (as an example 75% of women will experience at least one vulvovaginal candidiasis in their life) and are characterized by a disruption in the vaginal microbiome. Present treatments with antibiotics and antimycotics are showing their limits but live biotherapeutic products (LBPs) are opening new opportunities, answering to unmet therapeutic needs. This session will give an overview on vaginal microbiota in health and disease states, incidence of Lcr Regenerans, a culture of a Lactobacillus strain specifically designed for the vaginal environment, and how the activity of this LPB is directly pre-scheduled by its industrial fermentation process.
