Session 2: Fermentation/Cell Culture: Industrial Biotechnology Products to Biopharmaceuticals
Monday, August 3, 2015: 8:00 AM-11:30 AM
Independence Ballroom AB, Mezzanine Level (Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel)
Conveners:
Tiffany D. Rau - Consultant, Lake Charles, LA and Daniel K.Y. Solaiman - Eastern Regional Research Center, Agricultural Research Service, USDA, Wyndmoor, PA
The world of fermentation and cell culture is massive not only in the number of organisms that are used but also in the variety of products produced. This session will focus on fermentation processes and products that are high volume/low value (biochemical, biofuels, enzymes) and low volume/high value (medications) and the opportunities and challenges of delivering them to the marketplace.
