S71: Introduction to intellectual property

Want to know more about different types of intellectual property and what can and can’t be patented?  Want to hear more about the biggest changes to the US patent system in recent years?  This session will give a basic introduction to IP with a focus on patent issues relevant to the biotechnology field such as patenting in the field of gene sequences and diagnostic methods and supporting data for biotechnology patent applications.  We will also provide some comparative studies on patenting strategy in the US and Europe.
