High Throughput Fermentations: From Large Numbers to High Yields

For the past two decades the author has investigated approaches to microbial fermentations which facilitate large numbers of bacteria and fungi being tested for activities of interest, i.e., are compatible with high throughput screening for small molecules and enzymes. The results from a selection of these investigations along with development and scale-up problems and solutions for two targets of high interest will be discussed.
