Nigeria is a petrochemical rich country on the African Countinent subject to economic, social, and political instabilitites that among other outcomes contribute to higher equivalent refining costs. This talk with highlight early assessment of the opportunities for biomass valorization in Nigeria. Carica papaya stalk is available as an agricultureal residue, we will also present early results of a preteretament process compared to a similar United States biomass feedstock, i.e. Zea mays that has been studied extensively.
