The pretreatment is a necessary element in bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass. The primary purpose of pretreatment is to make lignocellulosic biomass accessible and reactive to allow high rates and yields on enzymatic hydrolysis. Although a number of pretreatment methods have been proposed and investigated, it is not identified definitely till now. Because of these reason and established methods don't decompose biomass, we had compare with the efficiency of organosolv pretreatment in acidic and non-acidic condition. The pretreatment was using batch type reactor. The conditions of pretreatment were temperature of over the 150 °C, reaction time of 10~60 min, concentration of 30~40% ethanol and 0.5~1.0% sulfuric acid. And then, pretreated biomass were performed with enzymatic hydrolysis for fermentable sugar production.
