As part of the BioEnergy Science Center (BESC) we are working in collaboration with other groups to achieve the goal of understanding and eliminating biomass recalcitrance. We support other researchers in the center with structural and biochemical information using macromolecular x-ray crystallography and enzyme kinetics. Topics vary from developing microbes for converting plant biomass into biofuels (consolidated bioprocessing) to improving plant cell wall deconstruction. Our poster will highlight recent results related to cellulosomal and non-cellulosomal proteins that interact with biomass.
