The sugarcane is a significant source of fermentable sugars that can be turned into bioethanol. Although this biomass has shown potential as a renewable energy source, there remains a need for more efficient ways to transform long polymer chains of cellulose and hemicelluloses into monomeric sugars before the fermentation step. The biomass is highly recalcitrant and requires effective pretreatments for enzymatic hydrolysis. To obtain lignocellulosic bioethanol is necessary to conduct a pretreatment, of biomass. In this work we studied solids concentrations from 20 to 40% for pretreatment with sulfuric acid 1% (w/w), and performed a linear design 22 with 3 repetitions in central point. The pretreated material was submitted to enzymatic hydrolysis considering 10% WIS with a load of 10 FPU/g biomass of cellulase and 25 CBU/g biomass of β-glucosidase. Analysis of chemical composition of raw material and pretreated were performed to assess changes that occurred after each pretreatment.
