Catchlight Energy is the Chevron | Weyerhaeuser joint venture whose mission is to commercialize the production of liquid transportation fuels from sustainable forest-based biomass.  Catchlight Energy is well-positioned to provide renewable cellulosic feedstock and to offtake liquid transportation fuel from lignocellulosic conversion plants.  For many such plants, sugar is the key process intermediate.  In order to facilitate the use of existing assets, Catchlight Energy has developed a solid cellulosic sugar production platform.  A solid cellulosic sugar is a transportable, storable process intermediate suitable for conversion to fuels or chemicals at a remote site.  This new product potentially extends the ability of Catchlight Energy beyond providing raw feedstock to providing a highly processed feedstock that could replace food-based sugar for conversion to fuels and chemicals.
