Diversity is critical for the advancement of the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology as well as society in general. This session will focus on the value and impact of diversity in academia and the workplace. An invited speaker will address these important issues involving the value of diversity in science, industry, and the discovery process in science as it relates to their career and life experiences. Panelists from diverse backgrounds and careers will answer questions from the audience related to everyday issues facing underrepresented minorities and women. Strategies for achieving increased diversity will also be discussed. All meeting participants are invited to attend and join in the discussion
