The Science Industry Partnership (SIP) is the UK’s strategic employer partnership for the science based industries.  As part of the UK Government’s Employer Ownership of Skills Pilot Programme (EOP), SIP secured £52 million (approx. $80 million) of funding from Government and employers to invest in new and existing science talent, to create more than 7,800 education and skills opportunities over a two year period, intended to lead to over 1,500 new jobs.  Industrial partnerships give employers the chance to work together to define the skills they all need to create a skilled workforce enabling them to shape the supply, content, standard, and delivery of skills for their sector.

As the initiative reaches its mid-point the speaker, a member of the SIP board, will report on the achievements, outputs and aspirations of SIP, personal experiences and how similar schemes might be adopted in the US and beyond.
