Protein production through transient transfection is critical to support the early development of biologics based therapeutics.   From production of the target, to early therapeutic panels, through the generation of larger amounts of lead therapeutics for full developability analysis; a robust and efficient method of transient protein production is necessary.   In this presentation; we will discuss the methods and processes by which the Molecular and Expression Biosciences group in Janssen R&D handles the large number and varied types of proteins in the transient protein production process.    Topics covered will include; request management and process workflow, expression construct design, cell line and media options, and analysis of product quality.  Particular emphasis will be made on the appropriate signal peptide and the impact on expression level and protein processing.
