Dupont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol (DDCE) has developed cellulosic technology which produces ethanol at high overall yield, titer and rate from high impact feedstocks. This technology encompasses feedstock harvest and logistics, biomass pretreatment, saccharification, fermentation, downstream separation and water recycle. Demonstration facility based in Vonore, Tennessee consists of a demonstration plant, process development unit (PDU) and applications lab. These research facilities serve to bridge scientific breakthrough to industrial scale production that delivers technology packages which are cost-effective, customer-tailored and environmentally-sound. By combining the strength and experience of DuPont and Danisco, DDCE is positioned to provide integrated and proven solutions to the emerging and transformational bioeconomy.

We intend to discuss (i) scale-up developments from lab to demonstration facility (1L à 75000L), (ii) historical improvements of technological efficacy for cellulosic ethanol production and (iii) overall perspectives of the DDCE experience from operation through commercial engineering designs and implementation.
