P156: In silico design

I have started working in Prof. R. Mahadevans lab from Sept 09. The objective of my project is to design the necessary genetic manipulation starategies in S.cerevisiae strain for overproduction of 4 Hydroxy Phenyl Acetaldehyde(4HPAA). For this I have started by studying the known literature concerning the computational techniques that can be used to get the desired genetic alterations in a metabolic network. I have looked into available computational algorithms like Optknock, Optreg, Ensemble modeling(EM), Cobratool box and Genetic design through local search(GDLS) . The planis to design a strain with atleast three genetic manipulations using one of the above algorithms.
