Session 14: International Eukaryotic Industrial Microbiology Symposium: The Impact of Eukaryotic Microbial Genomics
The dawning of the genomics age has broadened the realm of possibilities in basic and applied research on eukaryotic microbes. Dozens of fungal and algal genome projects are now complete or in progress. This increasing wealth of genomic information is occurring concurrently with a resurgence of interest in fungi and algae for production of fuels, chemicals and enzymes. This session will provide a sampling of some of the genomics enabled research occurring in eukaryotic algae and fungi.
