Development of optimal enzymes for chemical and fuel applications

Grace DeSantis, Verenium Corporation, 4955 Directors Place, San Diego, CA 92121

By screening genomic libraries prepared from environmental samples collected around the globe and tailoring their properties using Vereniums’s DirectEvolutionTM  technologies, high performance enzymes have been developed for a variety applications. These applications include: 1) Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical intermediate manufacture 2) Animal Feed Processing 3) Human health and nutrition 4) Industrial applications and 5) First and Second generation biofuels production. The emphasis of this talk will be on chemical and biofuels applications of performance enzymes.
