Renewable Petroleum(TM) Products and Technology

Petroleum is the raw material from which the vast majority of all commercial fuels and chemicals are derived. Unfortunately, it is a diminishing resource with increasing environmental, political, and economic disadvantages. LS9 has developed industrial biocatalysts for the selective and cost effective production of a diversity of fuels and chemicals that leverage the intrinsic efficiency of natural lipid metabolism. Fatty acid biosynthesis is ideally suited for industrial exploitation as it is efficient and productive in throughput while versatile in the compounds it can yield. This talk shall cover the LS9 technology for the production of alkyl esters, alcohols, olefins, and alkanes and the engineering strategies for producing these fuel and chemical products at commercial scale from diverse renewable feedstocks.
